Makenna went trick or treating with Jake (Nascar driver) and Chapman (OSU's Mascot: Pistol Pete) and about two dozen other kids on Chapman's Trick-or-Treat Neighborhood Hayride.
Neeny and Poppa walked with Mark, Micah, and me, following behind the hayride. It has just worked out that Neeny and Poppa have been with Makenna for all of her Halloweens!
Makenna was pumped when the "Big Girls" (Chapman's sister and her friends) wanted to take Makenna to a few houses trick-or-treating with them.

Neeny and Poppa came up to watch the Crimson and Cream absolutely demolish the Cornhuskers. I took Micah out for kick-off and "The One Video," and before we blinked we were up by a couple of touchdowns.
Makenna had been missin' her Neeny. She told me that she had been "missin' Neeny, Nenna, and Granny.....you know," she said, "all the old people." I told her that wasn't nice to say, but she didn't understand the harm in it and did not mean it in a derogatory sense. She had just found a way to categorize those people she had been missin' without having to list them all. (As you all know, Makenna's grandparents and great-grandparents are quite young and young at heart and are definitely not "old people") I told her that we need to just stick with the formerly used category of "all those people in Texas".....much more PC!
We had a great time....a visit that seemed too short. It made all of us miss Abilene just a bit. Hopefully we can head toward home sometime soon.
