Makenna had her first theatrical performance (well, I can hardly say that is true-- but real theatrical performance anyway) last week. The preschool theater group (ages 3-5) performed the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. All of the kids seemed to have a fun time performing on stage. Their performance was just one of many that night, so the theater was packed with family and friends, standing room only. Quite an intimidating crowd, but the performers didn't seem to notice. They did a great job.
Makenna was a "Who" from "Whoville." Most of them had lines, and they all would sing and do motions to the songs. Makenna was so funny during the song "You're a Mean One, Mister Grinch." They were all supposed to put their hands on their hips and scowl at the Grinch. She was so funny with her little scowl, bent over at the waist, with her hands on her hips.
This is backstage. Makenna's two lines were: "It could be his head wasn't screwed on just right." and "The Grinch got a wonderful, awful idea." All of the older kids said their lines. She was the youngest with a line. When it came time for her turn to speak, she either didn't say it or murmered it because no one heard it. I asked her later why she didn't say her line. She said, "I was thinking about having a tea party."
Daddy promised her a Krispy Kreme donut if we could leave at "halftime." For the record, she talked him into two donuts before we could leave. She loved watching the other performances.
