There is a train station in downtown Grapevine, and there are different events throughout the year that highlight a train ride. During Christmas they have the North Pole Express, which is to be similar to the Polar Express book and movie. Makenna loves trains, and she was SO pumped up about her first train ride. She watched part of the movie for the first time the night before, so she was all ready to go and see Santa.
This is a picture of her showing her ticket to the conductor so that she could get on the train.
She wasn't nearly as interested in what was going on inside the train as she was looking out the window. She enjoyed waving at the people along the way and watching the scenery. It was an absolutely perfect day to take a train ride with the windows open.
We had a terrific time. Mark even danced in the aisle on the train when they asked the parents to get up and dance. You should see his twist!
The NUTCRACKER TEA
We had a special high tea with sandwiches and other delectable delights. Makenna had two cups of hot chocolate and several cups of tea. My aunt Patti wouldn't be surprised in the least that my little one can drink so much at a tea!
The dancers put on a short version of the Nutcracker. It was so wonderful for Makenna to get to watch them so close up. She absolutely loved it. She kept asking if she could get up and dance with them. I was so excited that she got to go up at the end and get a picture with some of the dancers and talk with them.
Makenna sat on the little bench in front of the tea room and waived to the Santa on stilts across the street.
Downtown Grapevine really knows how to celebrate Christmas! All of these characters walk up and down Main Street on the weekends to say high to the children. Makenna wanted to get a picture of Rudolph. The other characters wanted in the picture, too.
It is so much fun having a three year old daughter! I feel so blessed that we can have so much fun together!
