May Fun

Memorial Day was a nice day of family time for the Smiths. We all went to Makenna's tennis lesson. This was the first time that Mark has ever been able to attend a tennis lesson, so he was pretty excited to see the girl in action.

Micah, like most boys, likes being outside, so he always enjoys going to watch sissy play tennis.

Mark was a little surprised to hear how Makenna was trying to direct the lesson. She was organizing the coaches and making suggestions for drills. It was all Mark could do to keep from going out there and letting her know that the coaches need to do the coaching and that she just needs to listen and learn. I found myself laughing at the whole scene. I said, "Mark, why are you surprised? She sees you directing people when she goes to your practices." He failed to see the humor in any of it.

If there is one thing this girl gets serious about, it is getting better at tennis. Everyone out there had better get on the ball and make efficient use of time.
Here she is practicing a serve...

The big event of the month was Hayden's first birthday. We love this sweet little nephew/cousin. He knew just what to do with that birthday cake!

Precious, precious birthday cake

Ok, so you've noticed by now....it was REALLY, REALLY hard getting pictures of the kids at this party. They didn't want to sit still for even a second. Here is the only picture of Micah and Hayden in which they are both facing (somewhat) the camera. I wanted a great picture of Hayden's shirt...it was too, too cute. I never could quite get him still, though! ha!

Well, it is two more months until my little baby turns one. He has finally figured out how fun his walker wagon can be. Look at him go!

Other undocumented events this month include a super fun Mother's Day weekend with my mom and Tom and Marilyn coming last weekend to help with the babies so that Mark and I could go to the Byron Nelson. It was our first date since, well, I don't even remember when, unless you count the events we attended in Miami. So, it was definitely a noteworthy occasion, but I didn't remember to get any pics!

I discovered the below pic today on the Orange Bowl Committee's website. This is the night we went to Joe's.
