Tag, You're It!

I was tagged by my super friend Monica to make a list of 8 things about myself and post it. I posted it on her page, and now I have posted it on mine. If you'll notice, I listed 10 things on accident, instead of 8. Oh, well.

Hmm.... 8 things about myself.... I could easily tell you eight things about my 3 year old or 8 things about my husband or even eight things about my brothers, but why is it so hard to think of eight things about myself?
1. Let's start with piggy-backing off of Monica's-- I too have a crazy sniffer, but it is so sensitive that I am not a big fan of candles. I get the (not literal) hives when I smell spray air freshener. I would rather sit by a screaming kid or behind a ten foot giant in church than have to endure someone's perfume. My honest belief is that Heaven will be odorless, until it is time to eat! (unless, of course, someone can prove to me otherwise in the Good Book).

2. I can read books really fast, and while reading them, I feel like I am living in them. I can tell you everything about them..... that is.... until a week later. For this same reason, although I may find myself doubled to the floor with laughter at a joke, I can never remember how to tell it.

3. I can remember most anything that anyone ever gave me as a gift. We've been married nine years, and I still think of the people who gave me the wedding gift when I use it.

4. The one guilty pleasure thing I like to do is watch a Lifetime movie. It really is pathetic, especially since I normally have to leave the room or turn the channel when the stalker finally gets too close. (back to the part about living in a story-- I can't handle scary stuff)

5. I have watched Days of Our Lives since I was born. I can remember watching it with my Mom and her mother, my Nena. I really can't believe that they brought Patch and Kayla back. I always had a Barbie/Pony/Doll named Kayla in all imaginary play-- a true tribute. Now my Meme and I watch it, and we compare notes. Really, Meme always has the same comment: "I can't believe I still watch this stuff. It is just redica(uh)lou(uh)s." I know we both can't miss a beat, though.

6. Mark was my first kiss. (This picture is from our Coaches and Wives back to school party. How do you like Mark's hair and fake tatoo? It was a Bikers and Babes party.)

7. I get my kicks from Cotton Candy and Dr. Pepper (another good reason to take Makenna to the circus).

8. If I could be anywhere, it would always be by a body of water. I grew up going to the lake every weekend, and I love the beach. There is something so awe-inspiring about watching the water.

9. My favorite book growing up was The Little Princess. It was the only book I ever read over and over and over (besides the Bible).

10. I have never broken a bone (knock on wood) or gotten a traffic ticket (or any other type of ticket for that matter). For the first thing, I have found that knowing how to fall, especially as the top of a pyramid, is an essential skill for avoiding injury. In the second matter, I have found that my parents and grandparents teaching me good old fashioned West Texas respect for one's elders and those in authority has gone a long way.

Referring back to Number 5 of the list, I would like to clarify a particular point. There are such things in the world, known to a select number of people, as Meme-isms. Others may notice them or pause in thought when they hear them, but we remember them, write them down, and love Meme for them. Here are a few for the ages:

1. Redica(uh)lou(uh)s................................Ridiculous

2. Wallago....................................................A while ago

3. Laktanever.............................................Liked to never (which may in itself be a colloquialism)

4. round the Cawner..................................Around the Corner

5. AfterWhall...............................................After a while

6. Reckeeration...........................................Recreation

7. EverThang...............................................Everything

8. Nurly.........................................................Nearly

I Love My Meme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, now, Meme...... Tag, You Are It! (e-mail me your top 8 (or 10) list of things about yourself that we may or may not know!
MEME's LIST:
1. Papa was my first real boy friend. I had to beg my Daddy to let me go out with him, as he was out of high school. We went to a Carnival at Cross Plains Texas. The Ferris Wheel almost made me scared.
2. We always "dressed up" when we went on dates, and I wore hose with garters to hold them up, and when I was walking they fell down my legs. I was very embarrassed, and of course Papa teased me big time.
3. We married in 1951. PaPa was in the Army, and was home on a 2 week leave in Dec. He asked me to marry him, and we had to get my Daddy to sign for me, after I begged big time, because I was only 17. I graduated when I was 16. We were married Dec. 12th, and we went to New Mexico on our honeymoon. Then in March of 1952, I went to Franklin Indiana to be with him, untill he went to Alaska, and stayed there untill he got out of the service, in Jan. 1953.
4. On Sept 20th, 1954 Gary was born. While I was pregnant with him (in the summer) I ate a lot of watermelon, and I retained fluid, and my Doctor had me drink buttermilk to get rid of it. Yuk!!! I was in labor 48 hours with Gary, but it was worth it. The Doctor didn't tell you much in those days.
5. On Dec 5th, 1958, Roger was born. I was very sick with him, and all I wanted to eat or drink was grape juice. To this day, I don't care much for grape juice. I was in labor for 36 hours with Roger too, and it was also worth it. The same Doctor still didn't tell me much, and I guess I was a slow learner.
6. I was saved (accepted Jesus) when I was 12 years old, and baptized in a water tank (in the ground) I remember it like it was yesterday. I always have tried to make HIM first in my life.
7. I love my boys with all my heart, and my desire for them was to know the Lord, and get a Education and be successful, and they have both done that. I am very proud of both of them.
8. Now comes, my grandchildren, Michelle first, then cute little blond Ryan, and then The Taylor Tot. All my pride and joy, from cheerleading, to ballet, football, baseball, we were blessed to see all of it. My consumption of snickers, did not help my weight, but it make the Snicker Company money!!! My prayer for them was the same as for my boys, and that too has come true. We have a Lawyer, a teacher and coach, and a Personal Trainer in our family. Mark helped produce the Princess, Miss Makenna, and has always been a joy to our family. And the Little Baseball or soccer Pro, Branson Dale. Of course, we don't want to forget Laura, who with Ryan produced our 4th generation Dale. She is a blessing to our family. Megan, Taylor's girlfriend, is also a big part of our family. Then, there is Deborah, that takes care of all of us, by always feeding us, and just caring about all of us. She is a blessing too.
9. Well, if I left out my computer, you would all be surprised. I do enjoy it, and appreciate those of you that have kept me in good ones that work, even though I can get them pretty messed up.
10. Well, I went over my 8, but when you start, it's hard to stop. I am blessed much more than I deserve, and family is so important to me.
