The First Game!!!

This is a picture of one of those moments.... one of those moments where you finally get to stop for a second, and it all hits you. You pause and pinch yourself. Sometimes I still can't believe that we are here!

We won 57 to 2. It was 50 to 0 at half-time. That is when Makenna and I barely made it back to Mark's office before the rain started pouring down. The storm was a big surprise to everyone with lots of lightning. Makenna and I got to the coaches' offices just in time to look through the windows to see all of the people below huddled under the bleachers, jammed like sardines. I was so glad we didn't get stuck in that!

Makenna finally got used to the fireworks when we scored. It only took 50 points of practice! ha! ha! She liked doing the OU chant with the arm motions. I was too close to fully capture the "U" in the second picture. :)

We stayed in the Switzer Center (offices) for the second half and watched the game on tv with some of the other coaches' wives and kids. The picture below is of some of the other girls who took a liking to Makenna. They put make-up on her and played with her. She was one of the big girls for the night! The one next to Makenna is Coach Gundy's daughter. Above her is Coach Wilson's daughter, and the other girl is one of their friends. They had a race, and Makenna came in third! She beat the friend! She was so excited! It looks like she gets the speed from her momma--the fastest girl in third grade! :) ha! ha!

I was not on my "A Game" with pictures last night, as I was a tad overwhelmed with the whole evening. I wanted to post the one picture with sweet little Micah, though. He was all ready to cheer on the Sooners. He stayed in Daddy's office with the sitter, Vickie. He was really tired and ready to go home by the time the rain delayed game was finally over!

Here is Vickie with Makenna. She is a cheerleader at Norman North H.S. Makenna is so excited because Vickie has invited her to come and watch the show off night for the Norman H.S. cheerleaders, as they prepare for competition. Cheerleading is a sanctioned sport in Oklahoma and competes in UIL style competition.

All in all it was a great day. We had lots of fun, and the Sooners solidly put one in the win column!
